Nevada Legislator Shannon Bilbray-Axelrod Fails Her Constituents

Shannon Bilbray-Axelrod is the Legislator for Nevada Assembly District 34 who assumed office November 19, 2016.

According to her voting records, she is anti-business and pro-taxes. Bilbray-Axelrod believes increasing the budget for Nevada’s schools will solve the negative scorecard of being 51st in the United States.

Voted to Increase Regulations on Businesses

During the 2017 bicameral-session, she voted yes on bills which increase regulations for businesses. Furthering the requirements added to already stressed business owners who are suffering effects from the Commerce Tax.

Voted to Increase Property Taxes

Bilbray-Axelrod also voted yes on SJR14. This bill is appallingly discriminatory against homeowners selling their homes. SJR14 will increase property taxes upon resale as much as three times by changing how the home is assessed. The home devaluation is reset every time property is sold by removing the depreciation amount under the previous owner and restarting the depreciation at current market value.

Shannon Bilbray-Axelrod Platform

  • “I believe we need to raise Nevada’s minimum wage.”
  • “I’m a firm believer in “You get what you pay for.” This requires Investing in funding teacher salaries at a level that attracts the best and brightest and providing the resources they need to help every child become a priority.”

Saudi Agent and Subjected to Ethics Probe

Twenty-five days before being elected to the Nevada Assembly Bilbray-Alexrod contracted to represent the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a lobbyist. In her assignment as a foreign agent, she lobbied to keep prevent 9/11 victims and their families from filing suit against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This left her fellow-legislators to ask:

Does she really believe the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia needed protecting from the victims of 9/11?

Overall, Shannon Bilbray-Axelrod has no plans to protect Nevada’s citizens against tax increases. She is anti-business and continues to support ideas and bills that make running a profitable business in Nevada near-impossible. Bilbray-Axelrod has no plan to improve Nevada’s educational system short of throwing money at the problem. She believes a bandage is better than finding a sound solution.

No one in Nevada wins with Shannon Bilbray-Axelrod in office.
